Scientific Programme: Pre-Congress Satellite Meetings
Several Pre-Congress Satellite Meetings have been organised:
3rd European Veterinary Immunology Workshop (EVIW)
The 3rd EVIW will be held in Berlin from September 10 – 13, 2009. Plenary and concurrent sessions will cover a range of topics in the field of veterinary immunology and provide colleagues with an opportunity to present papers and posters. Further details will be published at http://www.evig.org.uk.
Imaging Immunity
September 12-13, 2009
This two day workshop brings together leading experts which make extensive use of the latest imaging technologies to visualize immune responses on the cellular and molecular level in vitro and in intact animals. Despite giving groundbreaking new scientific insights the talks will also extensively cover the imaging technology used. Thus, the workshop is aiming at an audience which is already using imaging technologies and plans to broaden the spectrum of approaches or at newcomers in the field who want to be inspired. The agenda will offer ample time for interaction during coffee breaks and a social hour with light bites. Additional information is available from our industrial sponsors presenting their latest developments in imaging technology thus allowing attendants to get an idea about potential new investments.
Organizers: Matthias Gunzer and Peter Reichardt

The registration fee of 120.00 EUR includes the participation to the workshop, the workshop booklet, all coffee breaks, the late snack on September 12 as well as the late lunch on September 13, 2009.
Tolerance and Immunoregulation – From Basic Mechanismus to Therapeutic Applications
International Joint Symposium of four Collaborative Research Centers from Berlin and Hannover
September 11 – 12, 2009
Please register here and go on for further information!
The collaborative research centers are dealing with immune tolerance and immune regulation focussing on the gastrointestinal barrier, organ- and cell transplantation and immune mediated diseases. There is a special emphasis on the analysis of regulatory T cells under these disease conditions and on their potential use in the modulation of immune tolerance. The international symposium consists of invited international speakers and members of the research centers supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Chairs: R. Förster, M. Zeitz, A. Hamann, M. Manns
Hands on Laboratory Training in Immunology of Relevance to Global Health Issues in Resource Poor Settings
September 12 – 13, 2009
Please note: Laboratory outside of the congress venue!
Venue:
Max-Planck-Institute for Infection Biology
& Deutsches Rheuma-Forschungszentrum Berlin
Campus Charité Mitte
Charitéplatz 1
10117 Berlin, Germany
A two day hands on training workshop with relevant theoretical lectures will be held to train young researchers from African continent to build critical capacity in the public health research sectors and to transfer technologies to be used in the field conditions in resource poor settings. These are intended for clinicians and researchers involved in national health programmes as well as in the universities/academic/research institutions with field experience and basic knowledge of immunology and infectious diseases.
Chairs: S.K. Parida (Berlin, Germany), S. Janetzki (New York, United States), P. Dubois (Lausanne, Switzerland)
