City of Berlin

Berlin, capital of the Federal Republic of Germany, is located in the heart of Europe and also, after the EU enlargement in 2004, in the centre of the European Community. Berlin is the largest city in Germany, with approximately 3.400.000 inhabitants.
In recent years Berlin has established itself as one of the most attractive destinations for conventions, meetings, trade fairs and incentives. However, Berlin is far more than just a meeting point for leading people from science, business and politics, it also offers unique cultural and recreational attractions. Science, culture and pleasure are waiting to be discovered in Berlin.
Featuring three excellent opera houses, seven symphony orchestras, and over 150 diverse theatres, Berlin’s extensive multi-sided cultural programme fulfills even the most sophisticated expectations. Treasures of world heritage can be viewed in Berlin’s more than 160 museums and 350 galleries.
Berlin possesses an unusually rich architectural heritage in the form of residential developments dating from the period of the Weimar Republic.
These settlements are not only exemplary works of modern architecture, but also bear witness to the progressive social movements of the 1920s.
Six of these settlements have now been nominated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Gartenstadt Falkenberg, Siedlung Schillerpark, Hufeisensiedlung Britz, Wohnstadt Carl Legien, Siemensstadt and Weisse Stadt.
Be also amazed at the architectural variety of Berlin: East German architecture at Alexanderplatz, the magnificent Unter den Linden Boulevard, Brandenburg Gate and the German Parliament building. Potsdamer Platz, the playground of modern architects, attracts visitors not only with its futuristic glass and steel, but also with its shopping malls, cinemas, restaurants and cafés.
Experience Berlin‘s night life which of course enjoys a legendary reputation. Every day new music trends are created in the clubs which themselves are reinvented over and over again. There is no closing hour in Berlin; the parties in the clubs carry on all night long.
For a more relaxed afternoon, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Tiergarten, the largest natural preserve in Berlin, or enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the cosy German beer gardens.
